Former minister Ann Widdecombe allegedly fatally attacked in her home
Former Conservative minister Anne Widdecombe has died at the age of 78. The event that shocked Britain, which was initially reported as a natural death, has taken another turn. British police have launched a murder investigation after the former Prisons Minister was found covered in blood with a head wound in her Devon flat.
Officers found the former minister with serious injuries after an ambulance team alerted authorities and called them to her home in Haytor, in the Dartmoor area.
Her death was initially announced on Friday morning by her agent, with no indication that it was caused by anything other than natural causes. However, just hours later, Devon and Cornwall Police announced that the case was now being investigated as a homicide and that authorities were looking for a “white person” who they consider a suspect in the crime.
The head of the investigation stated that the investigations are still in the early stages, but are developing at an intensive pace.
"The murder investigation is still in its early stages, but is moving at a significant pace. We have committed all necessary resources to determine exactly what happened and to identify the person responsible, who we believe is a white male," she stated.
She called on all persons who may have information, even if they consider it insignificant, to contact the police.
Authorities are particularly seeking evidence from people who may have noticed suspicious movement in the Haytor Vale area, as well as footage from security cameras, smart doorbell cameras or vehicle cameras.
Meanwhile, forensic experts are conducting examinations at Widdecombe's apartment, which has been cordoned off by police.
According to information, the police officers who arrived at the apartment spoke with her caretaker, who is believed to be the person who discovered the body.

Anne Widdecombe was one of the most prominent figures in British politics. With a long career in the Conservative Party, she became known for her strong opinions and direct style of communication, representing the right wing of the party.
He later gained popularity among the general public through his participation in television programs such as "Strictly Come Dancing" and "Celebrity Big Brother".
A convert to Catholicism, Widdecombe often caused controversy for her stances on social issues such as abortion, same-sex marriage and drug use, for which she supported zero-tolerance policies.
