Manchester United achieved a rare and huge away win, beating Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield in one of the most watched Premier League matches. It was United's first win at the stadium in years without success, ending a long series of disappointments in head-to-head matches against their arch-rivals.
The match started with high intensity and the surprise came very quickly. After just 62 seconds of play, Manchester United's Bryan Mbeumo found the back of the net and scored one of the fastest goals in the history of this rivalry. The goal electrified the away team, while Liverpool were forced to immediately pick up the pace to recover the disadvantage.
Throughout the first half and early in the second, Liverpool dominated possession and created several clear-cut chances, including a goal kick and some excellent saves from the United goalkeeper. The pressure paid off in the 78th minute when Cody Gakpo scored to make it 1-1, restoring hope for the home fans.
But Liverpool's joy only lasted a few minutes. In the 84th minute, after a corner kick, defender Harry Maguire headed home the winning goal for the Red Devils after Bruno Fernandes' assist.
In the final minutes, Liverpool tried at all costs to avoid defeat, but United defended the result resolutely and secured a historic victory.
