Tirana Marathon ends, a Kenyan is declared the winner of the 42 kilometer

The Tirana Marathon has ended. The capital successfully closed this ninth edition. The major event gathered around 5100 competitors from 56 different countries, turning Tirana into an international stage of sport and unity.

In the 42 km category for men and women, the winners are all from Kenya, once again confirming African dominance in long races.

The winner of the men's category was announced as Benard Kiprotich, followed by Derick Chegg and Shedrack Kiptoo. The first two will be awarded 5 thousand euros each, while a total of 24 prizes will be awarded across the four categories of the competition.

The marathon route includes some of the most famous areas of Tirana, such as "Mother Teresa" Square, "Martyrs of the Nation" Boulevard, "Papa John Paul II" Square, "Skënderbej" Square, "Zogu i Parë" and "Zogu i Ri" Boulevards, as well as "Durrësit", "Kavajës", "Myslym Shyri" and "Ibrahim Rugova" streets.

Due to the marathon, urban transport movement has been temporarily suspended in several main segments, while emergency movement remains open.

This year, the Tirana Marathon is held in four categories:

Full marathon (42 km);

Half-marathon (21 km);

10 km;

Fun Run & We Too, dedicated to families, amateurs and people with disabilities.
