Lionel Messi had a special night in the final match of the regular season between Inter Miami and Nashville, as he not only scored a hat trick, but also reached 29 goals to become the league's top scorer in his second full season with the Herons.
La Pulga, who is the first Inter Miami player to win the award, finished ahead of Denis Bouanga (24 goals) and Sam Surridge (24 goals). He also became the first Argentine to win the Golden Boot since Valentinín Castellanos won it with New York City FC in 2021.
Messi also provided 19 assists and was just one step away from tying Carlos Vela's all-time MLS record of 49 combined goals and assists in a single season.
