The Basic Court in Pristina has found Jelena Djukanovic, a former OSCE official, guilty, sentencing her to 6 years in prison for the criminal offense of espionage.
According to the verdict, Djukanović was found guilty of collaborating with the Serbian secret service BIA, passing on sensitive information related to Kosovo's security and institutions.
The decision was announced at today's session at the Basic Court. The verdict was read by Rrahman Beqiri, the presiding judge, in the presence of the special prosecutor and the defendant Jelena Djukanovic herself.
"The accused Jelena Djukanovic is found guilty of the criminal offense of "espionage", therefore the court, based on the provisions of the Criminal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure, sentences her to: imprisonment for a period of 6 years, which sentence will be executed within 15 days from the date this judgment becomes final," said Beqiri.

He added that the time spent in detention from 28.02.2025 onwards will also be counted towards the prison sentence imposed.
"The confiscation of the following items from the accused is ordered: Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S22. Her detention is extended until this judgment becomes final," Judge Beqiri continued.
The dissatisfied party has the right to appeal against this judgment within 30 days after the parties receive the court's decision in writing.
We recall that the prosecution had requested a maximum sentence of 25 years, while the defense had contested the charges throughout the trial.
