Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, after the completion of the vote counting process, stated that parties must behave in accordance with the results they obtained in the early elections of June 7.
The Vetëvendosje Movement led by Albin Kurti once again won the majority among Albanian parties in the Assembly, receiving 53 deputies. PDK 22 deputies, LDK 18 deputies and the Alliance 7 deputies.
In a post on social media a day after the vote count was completed, Kurti congratulated the opposition parties on the "results achieved" in the elections.
"Yesterday, the process of counting all votes was completed. I thank you sincerely for the trust you have given! This powerful victory comes as a result of the great civic support within the Republic and in exile, as well as the commitment of thousands of volunteer citizens, members and activists of the Movement who never stopped and ensured the smooth conduct of the elections. We came out with a clear result first. I also congratulate the opposition parties on the results achieved ," Kurti said.
The acting Prime Minister stated that it is vital that we have a constituted Assembly, a government with a full mandate, and an elected president as soon as possible.
" The results of the June 7 elections showed that we did not need new elections, because the result has not changed that much from the previous elections. It is time to act in accordance with the citizen will expressed in the elections. As VETËVENDOSJE! we have been reconfirmed as the first party, with 53 deputies, and now we await the certification of the election results in order to start working towards the formation of new institutions, to continue the good work and development projects. We have lost a lot of time since last year and it is vital to have a constituted Assembly, a government with a full mandate and an elected president as soon as possible", said Kurti.
Kosovo held new parliamentary elections on June 7, less than six months after early elections on December 28, after political parties failed to reach an agreement on choosing a president.
