Kosovo's acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, stressed that cooperation with the opposition is necessary for the election of a new President, but added that in order to move forward, their rejectionist behavior must end.
He stressed that this time he hopes for a change in the opposition's approach, which he has blamed for the blockades that led to the holding of early elections.
"You know that on the issue of the president, the election of the president, we cannot do this alone, because 80 people are needed in the hall for a quorum, based on a ruling of the Constitutional Court, to tell you the truth, there have been too many critical, credible interpretations, because we know that the Constitutional Court should not rewrite the Constitution, nor amend it, but should only interpret it.
"And we have had many examples where we have had some kind of legal activism. But, we are now in this situation and we need cooperation. We will try for as much cooperation as possible with the opposition regarding the election of the president ," Kurti declared, adding that his proposals have been rejected by the opposition.
"There has been no shortage of offers in the past from our side. Our approach is constructive, it is creative, it is active, but I hope that this time the opposition's approach and our proposals will change. Just like last time they responded with rejections, they will no longer have part of the identity that made us call them an opposition bloc."
