Diaspora votes favor Kurti, LVV could reach 52 mandates!
Albin Kurti

The Vetevendosje Movement is continuing to strengthen its position with the counting of postal votes. If the current trend of postal vote percentages remains similar until the end of the process, the Vetevendosje Movement is expected to secure around 52 seats in the Kosovo Assembly.

In the preliminary results, Vetëvendosje came first with 48 seats. After counting votes from diplomatic missions and some postal votes, LVV reached 50 seats, while the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo lost one seat each.

Currently, 37 postal ballots remain to be counted. The Central Election Commission has received around 86,000 envelopes, while the number of valid postal votes is expected to be close to 82,500. The trends in postal voting differ significantly from those in polling stations within Kosovo. In local polling stations, LVV received around 43 percent of the votes. In diplomatic missions (over 22,000 voters) it reached over 80 percent, while in postal votes counted so far, support for LVV stands at over 65 percent.

According to the results summarized so far, the Vetëvendosje Movement leads with 44.4 percent of the vote, PDK is second with 20.6 percent, LDK third with 17.2 percent, while AAK ranks fourth with 7 percent.

The race for several other mandates still remains open and the final result will depend on the distribution of votes in the remaining part of the postal vote count.
