Kosovo Police have seized weapons, ammunition and other suspected illegal equipment, during an operation that took place in three different locations in the municipality of Zubin Potok.
According to the official announcement, the checks were conducted following information that there were weapons, ammunition and other illegal items in various facilities in the area.
In the village of Presek, during a search of an auxiliary facility (livestock stable), police found an M48 rifle, long gun magazines, over 150 7.62 mm caliber cartridges, as well as other equipment, including elements of camouflage uniforms and lighting equipment.
In a second case, in the same village, another M48 rifle and hundreds of cartridges of various calibers were seized, while in the third case, in the village of Qeçevë, another quantity of weapons, ammunition, cartridge loading equipment, gunpowder and metal spheres were discovered.
All police actions were undertaken in coordination with the State Prosecutor's Office, which has ordered the investigation of cases for the criminal offense of "Unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons."
Authorities have announced that no arrests have been made so far, while investigations to fully unravel the case are ongoing.
