After Tirana and Fier, the Durrës ballot boxes open today! The race in the

After the recount of votes in the Tirana and Fier districts, today at 09:00, at the "Farie Hoti" Sports Palace, the process is expected to begin for the Durrës ballot boxes.

In total, there are 290 boxes that will be reopened, which will also include the diaspora vote for this district.

In this district, the battle is between Aulon Kala and former prosecutor Arjan Ndoja. The latter won with a margin of 1047 votes. Kalaja was not supported by the DP in his battle for the recount, but was helped by the Legality Movement Party, which was in the DP-ASHM coalition.

Kalaja protested yesterday in front of the "Farie Hoti" Sports Palace, where the last ballot boxes in Fier were being recounted, demanding fairness from KAS and a full recount of the ballot boxes for Durrës. He also demanded the examination of the video footage, claiming that his votes were transferred within the party.

It remains to be seen whether, with the recount of these ballot boxes, Kalaja will be able to recover the votes needed to overturn Ndoja's result.

We recall that the day before, the last ballot boxes burned Zegjine Çaushi's mandate and gave it to Maldrita Bardho with a difference of 10 votes. But, in a surprise move in the evening, Bardho withdrew, "donating" the mandate to her colleague Çaushi.

On May 11, Çaushi was one of the names that received the mandate from the ranks of the SP with a small difference of votes with Bardho. With the opening of the boxes in Fier, after the veto of two KAS members, the only change that the recount produced, even though it was expected that the 'Albania Becomes Initiative' would receive a mandate, taking it away from the SP, was the shift of names on the SP list, from Çaushi to Bardho.

And while the latter was expected to be part of the new Parliament, in the evening hours she announced that she would not accept the mandate. Perhaps this is related to the order given by Edi Rama, when the first SP candidates after May 11 raised allegations of manipulation of preferential votes, but a few hours later they withdrew. But perhaps it could also be a political bargain in the second largest district in the country, where for the first time the Socialists led by Belinda Balluku as Political Leader broke Gramoz Ruçi's records, taking a full 12 mandates out of a possible 16.
