The government has decided to review the hydrocarbon market. Albania is the country with the highest oil prices in the region, perhaps in many EU countries.
But it seems that the government has finally decided to move on cost relief. The news was announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama, during a meeting on Agriculture and Rural Development.
He said that within the year a new scheme will be introduced, where the state itself will become part of the import and sale of fuels.
" We are preparing to intervene in the oil sector. In the sense that I said before, the government will be very active in creating schemes of cooperation with entrepreneurship and cooperation with economic factors, to increase income, not our own, but that of the people. We need to build a new process and we are preparing it, where the government will be part of the forces in the oil sector. Which means that we want to intervene to establish a new price balance for the consumer. This is something that we have studied for a long time and we see it as feasible. I believe that within this year we will be part as a government in the import of oil and the distribution of oil. Undoubtedly in cooperation with other actors ," said Rama.
