SPAK provides new documents on Ilir Meta's lobbying activities...
The Special Prosecution Office has uncovered new evidence on Ilir Meta's affairs. Although the latter blames Monika Kryemadhi and Endrit Brahimllari, it is clear that he was aware of everything, even though he did not sign it himself.
"Pamphlet" has obtained the reasoning of the Special Court, which refused to release him from prison.
SPAK has presented several new documents at the hearing, which sink Ilir Meta, but also show how Albanian politics has spent millions over the years on lobbying in the US.
Ilir Meta, Edi Rama, Sali Berisha, Lulzim Basha, Fatmir Mediu, Belind Këlliçi, etc., have been to the US many times, have posted photos and have had meetings with senators, congressmen or various officials. However, as SPAK notes, even official meetings in the US are paid.
SPAK has obtained several documents from the Parliament and the Albanian Embassy in the US, which show how Ilir Meta, when he was the Speaker of the Parliament, had various meetings in the US, but he did all of them for a fee and hid the millions he gave. According to SPAK, the meetings were provided by the contracted company, although they were sold to us as support by American officials. But we have seen similar meetings from the entire political elite, which means that everything was paid for.

With letter no. 18465 Prot., dated 12 June 2025 , the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has forwarded the information on the visits carried out to the United States of America during the period 2016-2017.
From the administered documentation it results that the Ambassador of Albania to the United States of America has informed the Cabinet of the Minister, regarding the visit carried out by the Speaker of the Parliament of Albania, Mr. Ilir Meta, on 9-17 May 2016 and 4-8 June 2016.
The information mentions that Mr. Ilir Meta met on May 9-17, 2016 with the Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Mr. Bruce Swartz, on the topic of justice reform, where Mr. Ilir Meta was introduced as the President of the Albanian Parliament but also as the President of the SMI.
He also held meetings with Deputy Assistant Secretary Hot Ye, Director for the Balkans and the Caucasus, Ms. Victoria Taylor, Administrator of the Foreign Agricultural Service, Mr. Philip C. Karsting, where Mr. Karsting expressed his welcome for a visit by the Minister of Agriculture and meetings at the expert level; with the Chairman of the National Security Committee in Congress, Mr. Mark McCau and Congressman Peter Sessions, Congressman Ed Royce, Congressman John Katko and the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Agriculture, Congressman Robert Aderholt.
In the information sent by Ambassador Floreta Faber, regarding the visit of the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament on June 4-8, it appears that Mr. Ilir Meta was invited by the American Jewish Council and, among the meetings held by Mr. Ilir Meta, the meeting with the Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Drug Enforcement Administration and Law Enforcement, Mr. William Brownfield, on the topic of justice reform, as well as the meeting at the Department of Cyber Security at George Washington University, as well as other meetings, is also mentioned.
In the GSIS company’s reporting statement for the reporting period January 1, 2016 to July 31, 2016, this company reported that it conducted political activity on behalf of the LSI, advising the LSI in its relations with the United States Government and political leaders, while Albania makes progress with constitutional reform and modernization of its economy, identified in document no. 1 (one) attached. In document no. 1 (one) attached, all political activity that GSIS LLC has conducted for President Meta, including most of the meetings described in the information of Ambassador Floreta Faber, is described.
By letter no. 18464 Prot., dated 28 May 2025 , the Albanian Parliament was requested to provide information on the visits of the Speaker of the Parliament, Mr. Ilir Meta, to the United States of America for the period 2016-2017, the invitations on which the visits were organized, the composition of the delegation, the program of planned meetings and the meetings held. By letter no. 1686/1 Prot., dated 05 June 2025, the Albanian Parliament has provided a full response on the delegations that accompanied the Speaker of the Parliament, but has not sent a full response on the invitations received, the program of planned meetings and the meetings held.
The fact that, in relation to the report with GSIS, a small part of the expenses were paid through bank accounts and the rest was not paid from known and registered accounts, while it has been proven that Ilir Meta himself was involved in corrupt relationships before this time, as well as the fact that he is a direct beneficiary of the services, leads to the conclusion that he has concealed the true nature of the source, as well as participated in the transfer of monetary amounts outside the banking system, spending these amounts on the services received.
While only a portion of the expenses related to the GSIS report were transferred through legitimate banking channels, it shows not only that the money was obtained illegally, but also his knowledge and intent to cover up the origin, transfer, and conceal the true nature of the income.
