Here's who will represent us in Parliament...
With the completion of the vote counting, including those of the Diaspora, the new composition of the Albanian Parliament for the 2025–2029 legislature has become clear.
And instead of talking about new energy, professionalism and integrity, the lists serve us a strange mix: judges rich as sheikhs, grotesque TikTok militants, and even "princes" of criminal heritage. Below we analyze some of the "bright" figures of the new Parliament, who will add a lot of charm to this legislature.
Tom Doshi , declared "non grata" by the US, UK and Australia, has returned to Parliament. Not for his vision, but as proof that a part of Albanian politics has no problem challenging even the country's biggest allies. Let's not forget that PSD is the main entity investigated by SPAK for vote buying.
Gjin Gjoni , the former judge with staggering wealth, who escaped vetting and justice through maneuvers, has now descended into politics to continue where he left off - in the "service" of himself.
Sara Mila , the most voted SP candidate in Elbasan, is publicly accused of gang connections. Instead of being rejected, she received an "ok" from the ballot box.
Ornaldo Rakipi , the son of Aqif Rakipi (sanctioned by the US), did not say a word in the previous four years as a deputy. And yet, he takes his seat in the Assembly again. On merit? No, by surname.
Zegjine Çaushi became "famous" by mocking Gazment Bardhi on TikTok. She made a "viral" video, and won votes. In this Parliament, you need to know more about the algorithm than about the Constitution.
Tërmet Peçi , known as the "screamer" of the SP, has become an icon of pathetic praise for Rama. His speeches are a manual of servility. This is what got him into Parliament.
Agron Malaj , a former guard of the 21st of January, is a name that stirs debate. His figure symbolizes a bloody event that is still not properly illuminated, but today he is part of the majority that once protested in that square.
Bora Muzhaqi , Minister for Youth and one of the record holders of gaffes. She is known more for contradictory statements than for any youth policy.
Arkend Balla , who according to the opposition has connections to Durres gangs. Although he does not have a criminal conviction, public perception associates him as a problematic figure.
Olsi Komici , former member of the KPK, mentioned in the scandal with questionable decisions in the Vetting process. Instead of being held accountable, he is rewarded with immunity.
Ceno Klosi , former director of the Tax Administration, accused of rigging tenders and favoritism, is currently under investigation by SPAK. But this did not stop him from winning a seat in parliament.
Pirro Vnegu , shadow defense minister, with a Greek passport. Greece wants him to join the army, Albania takes him to the Parliament.
Gent Strazimiri , a former MP who became a symbol of political aggression when he went to protest with a pistol in his belt. His return comes without reflection, without regret.
Tritan Shehu has become a representative for life. We haven't seen him outside the Assembly since the 90s, but his contribution is still unknown, apart from routine returns.
Jozefina Topalli , rejected by the citizens of Shkodra and with a party that did not receive support, has been brought as a "technical deputy" to Tirana by Berisha. The return of a spent figure, in a strained form.
Bardh Spahia , taken as a defendant by SPAK, but who finds his way back to the Assembly, in a country where criminal charges seem to be not an obstacle but a springboard.
Sali Berisha , himself on trial for corruption, is once again the leader of the opposition. It is an open confrontation of justice and politics – in the same salon, but with different destinations.
Fatmir Mediu , on trial for Gërdec, a tragedy that claimed the lives of 26 people. And today, this name is once again part of the legislation.
In short, the new Parliament is not simply a representation of the vote, but a painful x-ray of our system. Where representatives with integrity should sit, we will have worn-out politicians, characters with dossiers, mandate-buyers and social media "influencers". /Pamphlet
