For this reason, the Secretary General of the Freedom Party, Tedi Blushi, has made strong accusations against the government and prison security structures, denouncing a repressive regime against Ilir Meta in detention. According to him, the leader of the PL is being held in extreme isolation in the "Jordan Misja" Penitentiary Institution, deprived of the right to communicate with the public and legal representatives.
" Meta did not hold the conference with journalists on my phone because a total 'blackout' for calls was applied in 'Jordan Misja' ," Blushi declared in a media release, adding that this blockage occurred immediately after a conversation between Meta and journalist Beti Njuma.
According to him, the ban on contacts with lawyer Dylejman Karaj from the “Cakrani” Law Studio is another violation of the rights of defense and transparency. “ Meta is being held in extreme isolation, without any criminal facts or evidence. He is prohibited from meeting not only lawyers, but also family members, MPs, MEPs and leaders of the Freedom Party ,” Blushi stressed.
Calling the situation a “political farce of the century,” he published a portion of SPAK’s latest report, which he claims contains no concrete evidence against Meta. “ This farce will be dismantled in Tirana and Strasbourg ,” he said in strong tones.
The pamphlet will closely follow any developments on this issue, which raises the alarm about the restriction of fundamental freedoms and the selective use of justice for political purposes.
