The MP who left the SP parliamentary group demands verification of political support through new elections
Following the decision to leave the Socialist Party parliamentary group and continue her mandate as an independent MP, Marjana Koçeku has reacted publicly again via social media. In her message, she addressed the majority and Prime Minister Edi Rama, questioning the claim that the Socialist Party enjoys a stable majority of 83 seats in the Assembly.
Koçeku states that she did not receive anyone's mandate, but that, according to her, she has been denied the full exercise of her mandate for months. She adds that the mandate has now been returned to the representative who holds it.
The MP challenges the majority, if it is convinced of its electoral strength and its lack of political weight as an independent, to dissolve Parliament and hold early elections.
Koçeku states that she would run in Tirana in a new electoral contest. She also uses ironic elements in her address, symbolically mentioning "keci" and "kmesa", as well as the issue of using standard language.
The reaction comes a day after she announced her departure from the Socialist parliamentary group, opening a new political clash between the MP and the majority.
"I did not take away your mandate as an MP. You took mine, for 10 months in a row. Now the mandate has come to its place. If you are so sure that I will not win without you and you have a full 83 mandates, then dissolve the parliament, go to early elections and measure the strength of who wins what. This time I will take my precious goat with me, along with the sharp shirt, and I will go down to Tirana to run. Before I come, maybe I will get permission from my mountaineers to speak the standard language ," she writes.
