The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted to Prime Minister Edi Rama's statements on the "Flasim" podcast, where the book "The Albanian Files" was discussed.
In a video message, Berisha accused Rama of using the names of renowned international architects and studios to defend, according to him, what the opposition considers the plunder of public and private assets in Albania.
According to him, the book is not a testament to the government's success, but a reflection of the way Rama has treated the country during his years in government.
"The truth is that he talks about the inquisition for the protest and the intellectuals who wrote, but in reality that book proves more than anything else Edi Rama as a sultan of a sultanate from centuries ago, in which the country is entirely his personal property. This book proves once again the complete lack of transparency and that Edi Rama treats Albania as a pasha or his bajrak ," Berisha said.
The leader of the Democrats also focused on the projects included in the book, raising questions about the way they are financed and requesting the intervention of international institutions.
"There are two very important moments. First, those 523 projects must have been paid at least billions of euros for their design. Who paid for these projects? What is the source of the money for these projects? I invite Eurojust, Interpol and Europol to first investigate the source of payments to these studios," he added.
Berisha also accused the prime minister of conflict of interest, claiming that he has family benefits in the Gjipe area.
"Secondly, Edi Rama has family interests in that book, he has plundered the Gjipe canyon in violation of all laws and has placed the ivory hotel there, the glass one on the canyon. In addition to it, in other lands. Therefore, the public reaction, the reaction of the protest against the book was a dignified reaction, fully deserved ," declared the leader of the DP.
