"Traitors" who don't wait for Berisha to die to make a career!

The DP cannot burn entire generations of professionals by telling them: "Either we make Berisha king once again, or we all die."

The departures from the Democratic Party to the Socialist Party of many professionals who also take on official duties are of course a new thing for Albanian politics. It is one of those political innovations of Edi Rama, who has started this as the political philosophy of his government from the beginning.

The first ones that Edi Rama took from Berisha were the big businessmen identified as people close to Berisha. At least, the ten main businessmen of Albania were until 2013 identified as people of Berisha and sponsors of the DP, who did not even have the opportunity to be tested to be used against Edi Rama after he immediately included them in the government projects and advanced them.

Although they are not actually oligarchs, but large businesses that need the government's support, they have now become the main embarrassment of the DP as it cannot mention them by name as its close associates and seeks to accuse the government of keeping a handful of businessmen close to it who are in fact all former Berisha people.

This decommunization of society by Rama is his first innovation in governance.

If Berisha massacred a business connected to the SP and there are many cases that illustrate this, Edi Rama not only did not sideline or fight them, but promoted them as main promoters of the economy. Kastrati, Ulaj, Mane, Geci, Ponari and dozens of others after them who self-identified as Berisha's people are fully cooperative with the government and not shunned by it. The only cases when they have problems are cases when any business has problems due to corruption, bureaucratic procedures or the clientelistic connections of officials. But politically they are preferred.

This second wave of resignations of DP MPs, senior officials, and local leaders in official positions is more a dimension of tolerance of the SP than a betrayal of the DP people.

The SP does not need votes and those officials who leave the DP and go to the SP are not taking with them any river of votes. But they arouse despair in the opposition because in the fourth mandate, that is, after 12 years, an entire generation of young professionals, who have linked their fate with the DP, are wasted and burned forever.

The chairwoman of the DP in Saranda had a final battle in the 2025 elections to become a deputy. She entered the race, resigned from the DP, but in her place Berisha brought Ina Zhupa to the closed list. After three elections in which she tries to make a career, no one opens the door for her. But in the meantime, age passes, her projects all fall apart, and people have no intention of going to the grave with Berisha; enough that he feels surrounded by loyalists. The same thing is with the other candidate Zhani Gjergji, or the candidate for deputy of the SP in Vlora who was previously in the DP.

It is normal that a new generation, which has been standing next to Berisha for 12 years, should be confident at least in an open competition within the party on their merits. If they have to wait 156 years for Flamur to give them the chance to become deputies or mayors, then it is normal that they will leave, because they did not come into this life to be slaves of Flamur. Therefore, this movement, more than stimulated by the SP, is accepted by the SP because of its liberal dimension.

The DP cannot burn entire generations of professionals by telling them: "Either we make Berisha king once again, or we all die."

There are some who don't want to die for Berisha, especially in the name of the Flag. Albania is full of normal people and they make their own history. They don't necessarily need the PD logo or the traitor's stamp.

The only place where the class struggle of communism still survives is the headquarters of the SHQUP. The rest of society has thrown it behind its back. So the stronger the class struggle in the SHQUP by labeling people as "traitors", the more there will be hemorrhage from the DP for people who cannot wait their whole lives for the doors to open in life, after Berisha gets his chance for the third time.
