New details have emerged from the tragic maritime accident that occurred yesterday afternoon in the Bay of Ksamil, where 22-year-old Albiano Kreçi lost his life.
According to "News 24", the young man was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 15 and had been treated with insulin for two years. It is learned that before boarding the vessel, he had taken his dose of insulin.
Medical sources suggest that this factor may have influenced his physical condition and loss of control of the vehicle, however, the exact cause of the accident remains the subject of official investigations.
Meanwhile, the video documenting the moment of the collision of the vessel with the Border Police boat was recorded by a foreign sailboat anchored in the Bay of Ksamil and is being analyzed by the investigation team.
To accurately determine the cause of death and the circumstances of the incident, the 22-year-old's body has been transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Tirana, where it will undergo the relevant expertise.
The incident has shocked the Ksamil community, as family and relatives have come to terms with the sudden loss of the young man, who was the only brother among two sisters. Investigations are ongoing to fully unravel the serious accident.
"Around 18:30, in Ksamil, citizen AK, about 22 years old, resident of Ksamil, while sailing at sea on a jet ski type watercraft (floating car), is suspected that, as a result of sailing at speed, he collided with the Border Police boat, which was stationed (stopped) about 400 meters from the coast, monitoring the maritime space.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the vessel was injured, who was immediately pulled from the sea by police officers and other vessel drivers in the area, and was urgently transported to the hospital, but, as a result of the injuries sustained, he lost his life.
"A special investigative group was immediately established and, in cooperation with the Police Supervision Agency, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, actions are being taken to fully clarify the circumstances and cause of the incident," the police statement said.
