The case of Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela has entered 21st century history as an extreme example of the overthrow of democracy through formally democratic mechanisms.
After a defeat in the 2024 presidential election, Maduro refused to accept the result, locked up his opponents in prisons, declared himself the legitimate leader, and built a regime that combines fear, propaganda, and the support of poor segments that he keeps connected through social assistance.
It is a camouflaged dictatorship that no longer uses tanks to suppress citizens, but laws, money, propaganda and total control over institutions. Even in the name of "reforms" and "reconstruction."
Does it seem far-fetched? Not if you look at Albania with a critical eye. Edi Rama, after 13 years in power, has installed a similar model, but with a European costume and artistic style. We do not have open imprisonment of opponents, but we have a controlled justice system that selectively pursues, a bought media that is silent, an opposition ruined by infiltration and fragmentation, a completely partisan administration, and an election cycle where the result is easily predictable. The government controls the personal data of citizens, puts them under patronage, puts them under pressure, and then sells them “freedom” as a farce. There are no more elections, there are only votes. There is no more parliament, but an extension of the executive. There is no more independence of institutions, but simply instruments of loyalty to power.
Meanwhile, the same government that strips away every element of democracy within the country, in the eyes of the international community appears as a reformer, as the "leader of stability", as the man who does not open conflicts but resolves them. And this is precisely how the Venezuelan model has been given its elaborate Balkan version: instead of confrontation, image is used.
Instead of tanks, pacts with oligarchs are used. Instead of brutal repression, the economic exhaustion of every alternative is used. The Albanian case is more sophisticated than the Venezuelan one, but the result is the same: a government that leaves no room for rotation, that controls every link in the state and that has transformed democracy into a theater in front of a people who flee "from sight, from feet".
The internationals know this. And they tolerate it. Because Albania is not a priority. Because Rama is good at giving them what they want to hear. Because in a region full of tensions, better an autocrat who behaves well than a democracy that makes noise. This is the silence that is keeping alive a system that resembles Maduro's Venezuela more than a NATO country that claims to enter the EU.
And while in Venezuela there was an opposition that challenged, a society that protested, and a diaspora that shook the regime from the outside, in Albania apathy prevails. The opposition is suicidal. Civil society is bought. The youth have fled. And power is being transformed into personal property without any hindrance.
The Maduro case is not just a historical reminder. It is a warning. Albania is not yet Venezuela, but it is on the same path, only with more aesthetics, less resistance and completely in silence. When power is not given through elections, when justice strikes by command, and when no one has the power to say “enough”, then democracy is dead; even if they proclaim it alive at every international summit./ Pamphlet
Maduro ishte komandant dhe komisar. Rama është autoritet civil. Maduro i ka 7 yje në flamur. Rama i ka 5 yje në kapele. Flamujt të dy i kanë ngritur në gjysëmshtizë te ura e tabakëve. Qanë vëllai për vëllanë. Në sfond qajnë Kullat për të zotnë. Të dy janë koka, koka i lidhi dhe i bëri miq për kokë.
Më se e saktë. Por cila është rrugëdaljà me një popull pa nerv civil ? Me Llapin ?
E gjitha eshte ashtu dhe mbi te gjitha qendron si ne nje torte te prishur kjo fraze reale qe i mban te gjitha te keqijat: "opozitë të rrënuar..."! Opozite e kapur, e shkaterruar, e modelit marksist, e modelit hulugan, e modelit pagan, brutal, te percar, te shkermoqur, te nje kupole "te perdale" qe nuk duket asgje pervecse gjese qe kemi provuar me individ te konsumuar, te pare e provuar te nje noveli skandaloz perfaqesimi! Ndaj Edi Rama qendron kot si nje kuti kartoni i lagur ne nje dege peme te rrenuar nga rrhedha vershuese e te keqes, Kuti karton e shpuar qe i hyjne uje ngado, ose eshte nje nje rrjedhe lumi ku ka ngecur ne nje dege te rrenuar qe niveli e ka shpetuar pa e permbledhur! Edi Rama duhet te kishte ikur me merite qe ne 2014- en, 15, 16! Ne 17, po se po! Ka qene dhe i gatshem ta derzoj nga koficentet negativ te qeverisjes! Ja jemi akoma cdo cast e me keq se: Nuk ka ALTERNATIV QE TE PREMTOJ NJE QASJE NDRYSHE, ME PRESPEKTIV E NDRYSHIME TE PRITURA
