The State Police has reacted regarding the case of two German tourists, with whom contact was lost while exploring the mountainous area of Polis.
According to the official announcement, immediately after receiving information about the loss of GPS contact with the two tourists, the Librazhd Police Commissariat services organized a search and rescue operation to locate them.
State Police forces were involved in the operation, which also used drones to control the territory, as well as forest service employees and local government structures who assisted in the field searches.
After about 15 hours of intensive searching, the tourists were found in the village of Gaferr, in the Stravaj Administrative Unit of the Prrenjas Municipality.
According to the Police, both tourists were in good health and had not suffered any injuries.
The verifications carried out showed that they had lost their orientation while moving in the mountainous area and had been unable to seek help due to the lack of telephone signal coverage.
After the location, the tourists thanked the police officers and all the structures involved in the operation for the professionalism and readiness shown during the search.
The Elbasan Local Police Directorate announced that it remains committed to guaranteeing the safety of tourists and visitors who choose to explore the mountainous areas and tourist destinations of the region.
