The reaction of a citizen in Divjaka to Edi Rama was not a spontaneous episode, but an articulation of a widespread dissatisfaction. The Prime Minister made it clear that his government would not protect domestic agricultural production, openly siding with the defense of imports, justified as free trade. The clash revealed the deep political, social and ethical divide in the country, where most citizens see the government as a protector of clientelist monopolies. The case of Divjaka showed that the agricultural crisis is not a matter of subsidies, but of the system and cartels that have destroyed the domestic market, while the government chooses to protect them.
The challenge of a citizen of Divjaka in today's meeting with Edi Rama was not a spontaneous reaction, nor a desperate call. It was a stance shared by many farmers, who are asking the government to protect local production over foreign production.

After the open clash, the fracture and division that exists in public opinion was clearly visible, where the majority of society believes that everything that comes from the government is in defense of clientelist monopolies.
This stance is being openly expressed by both the right-wing and left-wing electorates. Edi Rama attempted today to ease the situation through an offer to increase subsidies, but failed to convince the people.
Farmers bluntly told him that the problem of agriculture is not just a matter of financing, but of the system. The monopoly of imported and exported goods has destroyed domestic production.
Edi Rama openly defended imports, justifying it with the principle of free trade. His statement was strong and disturbing, but, taken in political logic, it has given the opposition a powerful weapon to use, because the essence of the problem is real.
This is not about imports as free competition, but about cartel monopolies imposed on the market. Moreover, these cartels operate not only in products that the domestic market produces, but also in other segments of the agri-food market, where actors from outside this market have been entering for years.
Namely, drug trafficking networks that hide cocaine under goods like avocados, chickens, or bananas.
Today, in the discussion with the Divjaka farmer, Edi Rama openly declared that he will protect those who bring avocados, bananas and chickens, goods that, as reality has shown, are often used as a cover for drug trafficking.
A normal government would not respond to a farmer in such a rude manner, because it knows it will incur a political cost. But today it is different, because we have an authoritarian government and an opposition that, in reality, does not join the people to stop unfair imports.
