Former prosecutor Ervin Karanxha has analyzed the security situation and the functioning of the justice system, taking into account recent criminal events.
According to Karanxha, delays in judicial processes and the ineffective functioning of criminal prosecution bodies have created a climate of distrust among citizens, also contributing to the escalation of conflicts.
"Delayed justice is fueling a lack of trust. Problems that are not resolved in a timely manner, especially property conflicts and issues that have been carried over for years, in some cases end in serious criminal incidents," he said.
The former prosecutor emphasized that the normal functioning of justice institutions is essential for preventing crime.
"The criminal prosecution bodies must function. The persons who are prosecuted must be found guilty and punished, because if this does not happen, the events escalate to murder," declared Karanxha.
Commenting on the justice reform, he expressed reservations about its results, arguing that citizens continue to face lengthy judicial processes.
"What were the reforms for? We are left with the reforms and everything else is propaganda. The truth is completely different," said the former prosecutor.
According to Karanxha, improving the functioning of the justice system and shortening the deadlines for reviewing cases remain key elements for increasing citizens' trust in institutions and for preventing conflicts that could escalate into criminal events.
