Russian President Vladimir Putin has held a telephone conversation with his American counterpart on the occasion of Donald Trump's 80th birthday.
The Kremlin announced that the two leaders discussed the wars in Ukraine and Iran, as well as an upcoming visit by Washington envoys to Russia.
"The discussion focused mainly on the situation regarding the memorandum of understanding being drafted between the US and Iran. Donald Trump stated that an agreement is close," Russian presidential adviser Yuri Ushakov told reporters.
The Russian official also stressed that "it was agreed that the US president's special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who are closely involved in Iranian affairs, will soon return to Russia."
At the same time, Ushakov stressed that Trump told Putin that ending the war in Ukraine is vital and that he is ready to help.
Ushakov also said that Trump told Putin that a deal to end the conflict with Iran was almost complete and the Kremlin leader expressed satisfaction that hostilities would end.
Ushakov also said that Putin offered Trump congratulations on his 80th birthday in an "informal" manner.
Earlier, the US president had a telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky.
