Washington and Tehran express optimism about reaching a deal, while Iranian officials say internal discussions have entered the final stage...
The United States and Iran say they are close to reaching an agreement, although there continue to be discrepancies in reporting on its details.
According to White House sources, after reaching an initial understanding, further negotiations are expected to take place for 60 days to finalize outstanding issues. On the other hand, Iranian officials confirm that internal discussions on the terms of the agreement with Washington are in the final stages.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said on Friday that most issues have been clarified and that internal consultations are continuing. “So far, understanding has been reached on most issues and we are in the final stage of internal consultations,” Baghaei was quoted as saying by Iranian state media.
He added that Tehran is closely monitoring the positions of the American side and will determine its position depending on diplomatic developments.
"Even as we speak, meetings are taking place between the competent institutions," he said.
According to Baghaei, the timing, location and details of the announcement of the agreement will depend on the progress of the diplomatic process. Meanwhile, a US official stated that the agreement being finalized between the United States and Iran “also includes Lebanon,” without providing further details on this aspect.
