A man's disappearance in India took a dramatic turn after police arrested his wife, suspected of murdering her and hiding her body under the bathroom floor of their home in the city of Agra, in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports, the suspect, identified as Ruby, had reported the disappearance of her husband, Surendra Sharma, 44. For 45 days, she appeared to neighbors in shock and, according to authorities, pretended to cooperate with the police in the search to find him.
Suspicions grew after the victim's family noticed inconsistencies in her statements. The 44-year-old's brother reported his suspicions to the police, which led to a deepening of the investigation.
During a further search of the apartment, officers noticed that the bathroom floor had recently been tiled and plastered. After breaking up the floor, police discovered the decomposed body of Surendra Sharma, buried beneath the tiles.
According to preliminary investigations, the body was covered with soil, then the floor was plastered and laid with new tiles, in an attempt to hide the traces of the crime.

Investigators are verifying whether other people were involved in the crime. They stressed that the motive for the murder and the full course of events will only be determined after reviewing all the evidence collected.
