Putin in total paranoia, even bans wristwatches for fear of assassination
Vladimir Putin

The Federal Presidential Protection Service has banned wristwatches during meetings with Putin: here's why

From now on, anyone meeting with President Vladimir Putin will not be allowed to wear a wristwatch. What may seem like an absurd requirement to ordinary people is actually a decision taken by the Federal Presidential Protection Service (FSO) to ensure the security of the Kremlin leader. The news was announced by the Telegram news channel Mozhem Obyasnit. According to reports, the ban has been in effect since mid-April.

But why was such a measure imposed? It must be admitted that, nowadays, watches no longer only have the function of telling time. Some models are also equipped with other functions. For this reason, the president's security personnel are afraid of devices that could hide micro-explosives or systems capable of releasing toxic and poisonous substances. Not only that. Some watches can enable audio recording or satellite tracking of the president's position.

So, there are those who consider all this to be madness dictated by paranoia, and others who understand such measures, considering the level of technology that has been achieved today. It should not be forgotten that Vladimir Putin was a former KGB agent and knows the world of espionage very well, just as he knows that various objects can easily be transformed into instruments of death.

Thus, after mobile phones, wristwatches, both digital and mechanical, have been added to the list of prohibited objects. The new rule must be respected by ministers, advisors, senior officials and company executives who will have the opportunity to meet with the president.

If you look at the latest photos of President Putin, you'll notice that his associates are not wearing any kind of wristwatch.

There would be only one exception: Sergey Chemezov, president of the Rostec conglomerate and a close friend of Putin, would not be subject to the ban. In addition to Chemezov, there are reportedly a few other highly trusted individuals who are exempt from this rule.
