A mysterious luminous object, described as an "eight-pointed star" moving rapidly across the sky, is among the most commented videos released by the US administration in the new wave of declassified UFO files.
Infrared images, recorded by US military personnel in 2013, show an unusual object moving in the dark with irregular shapes and wings that appear to be constantly changing.
At one point, the military sensor zooms in on the object as it speeds across the screen, leaving behind a luminous trail.
According to the accompanying report, the object made sudden movements, changed direction unexpectedly, and disappeared from the visual field several times before reappearing a few moments later.
The officials who documented the video emphasized that the technical description of the footage is only informative and should not be interpreted as evidence of the nature or origin of the object.
The video is part of the first batch of long-awaited UFO files that the Trump administration released on Friday. The materials include hundreds of videos, photographs, testimonies and documents previously classified by the Pentagon and US federal agencies.
The release comes months after President Donald Trump ordered Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to declassify government documents related to UFOs and suspected extraterrestrial activity.
Republican Congressman from Tennessee, Tim Burchett, who has been demanding the release of secret UFO files for years, reacted on the X platform by writing:
“Remember, the federal authorities told us these files didn’t exist. Trump confronted the deep state. The first release will be big, but compared to what’s coming it will be just a drop in the ocean.”
Materials from the Apollo missions
Among the materials that attracted the most attention are documents and photographs related to NASA's Apollo 12 and Apollo 17 lunar missions.
A photograph taken from the surface of the Moon appears to show three unexplained spots in the dark sky above Earth's natural satellite.
Also, in a transcript of the Apollo 17 mission, astronauts discuss mysterious objects that moved near the spacecraft during the flight.
"We now have some very bright particles or objects passing by us as we maneuver," an operator is heard saying while communicating with the control center.
Another astronaut replies:
"There are a lot of them near my window, very bright. It looks like Fourth of July fireworks."
After the files were published on the official website of the US Department of Defense, Donald Trump reacted on the Truth Social network.
"In the name of complete and maximum transparency, I had the honor of ordering my administration to identify and release government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena, and unidentified flying objects," he wrote.
Trump added that previous administrations "have failed to be transparent" on the issue, while now "the public can decide for themselves what is happening."
New military reports
The declassified package also includes FBI photographs from New Year's Eve 1999, showing unidentified objects near US military aircraft.
The documents also contain footage taken by military pilots that claim to show high-speed objects passing by aircraft during flight.
A new military report, known as "MISREP," describes an instance where a member of the US forces observed "several bright objects maneuvering rapidly from the west to the northeast."
According to the report, one of the objects was tracked for about 20 seconds through the military aircraft's targeting system.
