Flights at Munich Airport, one of the most important air transport hubs in Germany, were temporarily suspended on Saturday morning after reports of the possible presence of a drone near the operating area.
According to German media, including Focus Online and Bild, airport authorities decided to temporarily suspend air movements as a security measure while they began checks on the suspicious object spotted near the airport.
After controlling the situation, Focus Online reported that air activity resumed and operations were gradually returning to normal.
By the time of publication of the reports, airport authorities and police had not yet issued an official statement on the incident or the exact nature of the alarm.
Meanwhile, data on the official website of Munich Airport showed that a number of flights scheduled until around 10:00 local time had been delayed or canceled, while others continued as scheduled.
Authorities are expected to clarify in the coming hours whether it was a confirmed drone or just a signal that activated security procedures at the airport.
