Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed that Israeli forces have crossed north of the Litani River into southern Lebanon, marking a significant escalation of military operations against Hezbollah.
During a visit near the border with Lebanon, Netanyahu stated that Israeli troops have advanced beyond the Litani River, which is located about 30 kilometers north of the border with Israel, and are operating on several fronts simultaneously.
"Our forces have crossed the Litani and advanced towards control positions. We are operating in Beirut, in the Bekaa Valley and along the entire front, dealing a devastating blow to Hezbollah ," Netanyahu said.
According to reports, over the past week the Israeli army has intensified operations in eastern Lebanon, supported by hundreds of airstrikes, artillery bombardments and drone strikes. The objective of these actions is to take control of strategic positions south of the city of Nabatieh.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military has expanded evacuation zones for civilians. Initially, residents were asked to leave areas south of the Litani River, while a new evacuation order was recently issued for areas south of the Zahrani River, about 10 kilometers to the north. Israeli authorities have declared this area a war zone.
