For twenty-three days, a peaceful movement has been holding the square in front of the Prime Minister's Office and does not leave Edi Rama any excuse to suppress it. At this very moment, a silent operation with words begins. A series of analysts and voices close to the government hit the protest with the same refrain: peace produces nothing. Regardless of what each of them has in mind, the combined effect of this cacophony is a trap with two exits, and both escape the government.
The movement began in Zvërnec, after the violence of May 30, and within a few days filled Tirana. What makes it dangerous for the government is not the number, but the discipline: peaceful, massive, civic, independent of both major parties, with a slogan that sums it all up, "Rama in prison, Berisha in prison". It is precisely this nature that deprives the government of the tool it loves most, the justification for using force.
It is said that this protest has produced nothing. The facts say the opposite. Within the first few weeks, the barbed wire and then the fence in Zvërnec fell. The people who behaved like the state towards a citizen lying in the sand were identified and ended up being detained. The police chief lost his post, not by the grace of the government, but under the weight of the road. The issue crossed borders and reached Brussels and the European Parliament. A whole generation of new voices arose that no one knew a month ago. When a protest moves wire and concrete, overthrows officials and holds the square for three weeks in a row, saying that it has achieved nothing is not analysis. It is denial.
The attack on the protest comes in two voices that seem opposite, but lead to the same place. The first refrain is simple, "it produces nothing." Its harshest spokesman these days is Ilir Demalia. In a television appearance, he calls the movement not a protest, but a collective performance, cultural consumption, a "moral selfie," a provincial ritual with Instagram filters on a civic void. The government, according to him, has no reason to worry, because it awaits everything with cynical calm, and the protest will dissolve into collective Albanian fatigue, because this country has not yet left the tribe to enter the city.

Në fillim Demalia nuk ishte tallës, madje u shkruante studentëve të mos ndaleshin dhe godiste qeverinë. Sapo lëvizja ngeci, toni i tij u kthye. Në një shkrim të 7 shkurtit 2019 te Panorama, ai e pagëzoi gjithçka "protestë hidrosanitare" për WC e lavamana, e përmblodhi me thënien se u mbars mali dhe polli një mi, dhe i hodhi studentët si flakë kashteje pa artikulim, mendim e strategji. Modeli përsëritet me përpikëri: sapo qytetarët dalin në shesh pa parti në krye dhe lëvizja has vështirësi, dikush ngrihet të shpallë se gjithçka ishte e kotë. Një verdikt që përsëritet fjalë për fjalë në çdo valë nuk është diagnozë e realitetit. Është recetë për dëshpërim, e shkruar para se të mbarojë historia.
Refreni i dytë vjen nga ana e kundërt, dhe është më i rrezikshmi. Quhet retorika e "kryengritjes", dhe i pëshpërit protestuesit se me marshime paqësore nuk është rrëzuar kurrë asnjë pushtet. Analiza më e mprehtë mbi këtë e quan vetë përzierjen e fjalëve "kryengritje" dhe "paqësore" një kurth që prodhon pritshmëri të rreme dhe zhgënjim, sepse i thërret njerëzit për përmbysje dhe njëkohësisht u kërkon të sillen si në një shëtitje simbolike. Largesa mes dy refreneve është iluzion. Njëri të thotë se rruga jote s'vlen sepse je primitiv. Tjetri se rruga jote s'vlen sepse je tepër i butë. Të dy të lënë në të njëjtën pikë, te bindja se paqja nuk të çon gjëkundi.
Pretendimi se protesta po shtyhet drejt një kurthi nuk varet nga leximi i mendjeve. Varet nga një fakt që e shohim me sy. Prej muajsh, vetë kryeministri po ndërton paraprakisht portretin e një lëvizjeje që gjoja do të "meritonte" shtypje. Rama i ka quajtur protestuesit njerëz me ide fashiste. E ka veshur valën si vepër të një lufte hibride, me gisht nga Irani, Rusia dhe rrjete anti-Trump, madje duke qarkulluar një raport të një kompanie amerikane për narrativat online. Ka folur për një turmë që kërkon të linçojë, jo për qytetarë që kërkojnë llogari.
Secila etiketë është një tullë në të njëjtin mur. Quaje lëvizjen fashiste, të drejtuar nga jashtë dhe të etur për linçim, dhe çdo goditje ndaj saj shndërrohet në mbrojtje të rendit e të atdheut, jo në dhunë ndaj njerëzve. Demalia dhe të ngjashmit e ndërtojnë murin nga ana tjetër, duke e zhvlerësuar protestën si zbrazëti primitive, që kur të vijë çasti, shpërbërja e saj të duket si pastrim i një rrëmuje folklorike, jo si shtypje e një kërkese të drejtë. Zëri që përbalt dhe zëri që demonizon punojnë në të njëjtin kantier, edhe pa u takuar kurrë.
This is where the circle closes. A movement that is constantly bombarded with the message "you are useless" has only two ways to withstand the pressure. The first is to get tired and give up, and the government gets the victory for free. The second is to prove that it is not useless by getting tougher, and if the tougher turns into violence, the government gains something more precious than calm. It gains an alibi.
How well this alibi would work is shown by the grammar of the image itself. A crowd that holds the square with dignity for weeks produces images that embarrass the government. All it takes is a spark, a building on fire, a fight with the police, and the entire media scene is turned upside down overnight. Attention shifts from demands to methods, from what people want to the way they demand it. Rama has had the vocabulary for this moment ready for a long time. The labels fascist, hybrid war, lynch mob are just waiting for an event to give them flesh and blood. Provocation does not give the government any new arguments. It simply confirms what it has been preparing for months.
This is the essence of the trap. The movement scares Rama precisely because it does not give him any semblance of violence to show the world. If he did, he would lose what makes him special, the moral support at home and the institutional support abroad, and the prime minister would regain the ground he has lost. Discipline is not an embellishment of this protest. It is the very heart of its strength.
The conclusion is the opposite of what both choruses sing. Peace is not the weakness of this movement. It is its sharpest weapon. Plotesisht dakort. Vetem me kaq sa eshte bere , imazhi i Rames eshte bere si zhgaravinat e tij. Kthim mbrapa nuk mund te kete. Edhe mediat po e leshojne pak nga pak. Jashte, kargjozllekut te tij po i shtohet dhe qe eshte eksiq.(i manget). Fundi po vjen , pak me ngadale por i sigurt dhe i hijshem per shqiptaret. Emigrantet tane treguan se jane qytetare te denje te Europes. Falenderime.
