The United States armed forces have conducted an air operation against a speedboat suspected of drug trafficking in the Eastern Pacific, killing three people.
The news was confirmed by the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), which also released footage of the military action.
According to the official statement, the vessel was involved in narcotics trafficking activities.
"Three narco-terrorists were eliminated during the operation," the SOUTHCOM statement said.
US authorities have not made public the identities of the victims, while details on the amount of drugs seized or the exact coordinates where the operation took place are also lacking.
The Southern Command has announced that the operation is part of the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking in the region.
According to data published by US authorities, dozens of similar operations have been conducted in the Caribbean and the Eastern Pacific since September last year.
However, these interventions have sparked controversy, as critics have called for more transparency regarding evidence proving the involvement of seized vehicles in criminal activities.
