United States President Donald Trump has called on Hezbollah to respect the ceasefire in force with Israel and avoid any action that could increase tensions in the region.
Through a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump emphasized that the current period is crucial and urged the group's leaders to exercise caution.
"I hope Hezbollah acts well and carefully during this important period of time. It will be a great moment for them if they do. Enough with the killing. There must finally be peace!" the US president wrote.
Although a ceasefire has officially been reached between Israel and Lebanon, Hezbollah remains one of the main actors in the conflict due to its presence and influence in southern Lebanon.
Meanwhile, an Israeli official told CBS News that the Israeli military will intervene during the ceasefire period only in cases where it faces immediate threats from Hezbollah.
On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that a long-term peace in the region cannot be guaranteed without the disarmament of the Iran-backed group.
