Socialist Party MP Erion Braçe has reacted publicly to rumors linking him to a possible departure from the SP parliamentary group, clarifying that he has no intention of becoming an independent MP or handing over his mandate.
Through a lengthy reaction on social media, Braçe emphasized that he remains part of the Socialist Party, where he has been active since its founding, and that he will continue to exercise his mandate as an MP in Tirana.
" I am a socialist, I do not become independent. I am partisan, not neutral, I hold positions, I do not stand aside. I am an elected MP in Tirana, I am not from the list, I have become an MP, I am an MP, I will continue to become an MP, I do not resign. I will continue to stand in front of my party, telling the truth, demanding accountability, criticizing, debating, opposing, proposing and approving there, face to face and from every corner of the territory that I cover as an MP ," writes Braçe.
The socialist MP also dwells on the voices that see him as distant from the Socialist Party, describing them as unbelievable and in contradiction with his entire political history.
" No one would believe that if I left the SP group I would be independent, even those who write to me this. I have been in the SP since its founding, I have been active in it for 35 years, I have lived in it and worked with it, I have fought battles here and there, as a socialist, holding positions without ever being neutral, that is, independent ," he says.
Braçe also emphasizes his work as a deputy, stating that he has no intention of leaving office and that he will respect the trust of the citizens who voted for him.
" I have been a deputy, I am a deputy and I will continue to be a deputy, not only in Unit 5, but in all of Tirana. There is no one in my unit today who does not know who is a deputy. There is no one in Tirana today who does not know that I am a deputy of this district. No one can say that the deputy did not come to my unit, neighborhood, block, street, alley or square below the palace. So I have done the job, I am doing the job, I will do the job, I will not resign and I will respect the 25 thousand people who voted and entrusted me with this task ", he emphasizes.
At the end of the reaction, Braçe hints that he will continue to be a critical voice within the Socialist Party, but without abandoning it.
" I will continue to stand up to my party for truths that it refuses to see or has outside of any agenda for 1001 reasons, including disregard, exclusion or arrogance. I have enough space to do this without any reservations, like on Saturday, face to face with the prime minister and the government. So I don't need to be in the protest with 7-8 agendas, some primitive and very dangerous for this country, but I do it face to face and face to face, being responsible, taking and demanding responsibility ," concludes Braçe.
