SPAK hit the cocaine trafficking group and seized 128 million euros, where Adjon Hanxhari and his company Hanxhari Group are suspected of being involved in laundering drug money through investments in construction.
A few days ago, SPAK finalized the operation to crack down on one of the most powerful cocaine trafficking groups from Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Puerto Rico and Brazil towards Europe, with the protagonist being the mafia Artur Shehu. The group operated in the trafficking of tons of cocaine, property theft and laundering of drug money in towers and resorts. SPAK seized over 128 million euros related to the project in Zvërnec where Artur Shehu was involved, about 40 luxury cars, contracts, companies, etc.
In addition to the companies directly linked to the names of the 20 members of the group, the organization is suspected of using several other satellite companies for laundering dirty money, indirectly linked, in order to escape justice. One of the suspected satellite companies of the group members that was hit by SPAK is the Hanxhari Group, which is owned by Adjon Hanxhari, the son of the Vlora builder, Fatmir Hanxhari.
Adjon Hanxhari is a close associate of Alfredo Hamzai's group, which according to SPAK has trafficked tons of cocaine, laundering the money in construction. Adjon Hanxhari's name, although filed for assassinations and beatings of women, came to the fore when he managed to obtain a permit from Edi Rama for a 47-story tower opposite the American Embassy, where the French Embassy once stood.
The tower that would eclipse the American Embassy, significantly compromising the security of the most important diplomatic headquarters in the country, also set the US State Department in motion, after the denunciation of one of the alleged owners of the land where the construction was planned, but also after several signals that tens of millions of euros in cocaine money would be laundered through this tower. Hanxhari Group was founded in October 2018. A year before receiving the permit for the tower, the company recorded a total turnover of 2.35 million euros and a net profit of 110 thousand euros. According to the official balance sheet, the value of the company's assets is 11.9 million euros. But of these, about 11.7 million are liabilities, while the company's own capital is only 230 thousand euros.
Can a company with these financial indicators make such a large investment as a 47-story tower that will eclipse the American embassy, the cost of which could be over 100 million euros? While banks have begun to be cautious in lending to high-rise towers, SPAK files have shown that the financing comes from drug money. Or in other cases, behind the builders who receive permits on paper, there are other hidden people, mainly crime figures.
After diplomatic interventions, a few weeks ago, the National Territorial Council decided to revoke the construction permit for Embassy Tower, the 47-story tower next to the American Embassy. However, the Hanxhari Group company, with ridiculous capital, has been involved in other constructions from Vlora to Tirana, while Adjon Hanxhari's name is also linked to several other companies with suspicious activities. /Pamphlet
