A fire broke out this afternoon on the outskirts of the city of Vlora, near the former airfield, alarming residents of the area.
Favored by wind and high temperatures, the fire spread rapidly across an area of dry grass and bushes, while the flames approached homes, increasing the risk to residents.
According to residents, such situations have become a recurring problem every summer. They blame the lack of cleaning and maintenance of the territory, demanding faster intervention from the Municipality of Vlora and the responsible institutions.
"This is the state. The place is a powder keg. This problem happens here 5-6 times a year. The cleaning crews came, cleaned the place and left. We have a problem with this job. It's been on fire for a week," one of the residents told the media.
Firefighters have arrived at the scene, working to isolate the source and bring the flames under control, in order to prevent them from spreading to residential areas.
