The Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Ilirjan Celibashi, spoke today about the task force created in cooperation between the CEC, SPAK and the General Prosecutor's Office, describing it as a good example of institutional cooperation in order to guarantee the integrity of the elections.
"The product was this electoral process that we conducted. I think that beyond the sarcasm from political actors towards this cooperation, I am convinced that it was a successful cooperation," Celibashi declared.
He acknowledged that political parties have their own critical positions and are often influenced by political interests, but emphasized that his assessment as the head of the electoral institution is that the task force has had a positive impact on the entire electoral process.
Celibashi added that it is difficult to say what the situation would be like without this institutional cooperation, but underlined that the presence of the task force has helped increase transparency and address issues more quickly.
"Political parties have their own judgments and assessments, both towards the CEC, as well as towards SPAK or the General Prosecutor's Office. But I think the impact has been really positive. It is difficult for us to say what the situation would have been like if that task force had not been there, but the fact that it was there has directly influenced the progress of the process," he said.
