Following the instructions he received in the US, the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, seems to have been put into action immediately after arriving in Albania. SPAK announces that today he has made an official visit to Montenegro, with a focus on cracking down on international drug trafficking networks. Many ports in Montenegro have become bases for Albanian networks, in cooperation with Montenegrin ones, and the signals are that the orders have come from the US.
" The Head of SPAK, Mr. Altin Dumani, met today in Podgorica with the Special Chief Prosecutor of Montenegro, Mr. Vladimir Novović. During the meeting, the excellent cooperation between the two institutions in the fight against transnational organized crime was appreciated, with particular emphasis on the detection and prosecution of perpetrators of drug trafficking in both countries, " SPAK emphasizes.
One of the most sensational cases that has been discovered of cooperation between Albanian and Montenegrin groups is that of 2022.
A large quantity of cocaine, which had arrived from Latin American countries and was seized at the Port of Tivat in Montenegro, was discovered in a cocaine laboratory in the village of Frakull i Madh in Fier.
The cocaine, which was hidden in 400 kg bags of chemical fertilizer and seized in July of that year, was kept under surveillance to discover its final destination.
The operation, which was carried out by the US DEA, in cooperation with SPAK and the Montenegrin police, was kept secret. Bags of chemical fertilizer containing cocaine were observed, which were taken from the Port of Tivat and taken to the village of Frakull i Madh in Fier. Approximately 15 people were subsequently arrested.
It looks like we may have another operation on the horizon.
