Like "he who weaves a fence after the horse has gone", the Gramsh Municipality will spend around 140 million lek on the reconstruction of the 9-year school "35th Anniversary of the Liberation of Gramsh" and the construction of the gym.
As classes have begun and students are sitting at their desks, municipalities have opened a "river" of tenders for the reconstruction of school buildings.
Like "he who weaves a fence after the horse has gone", the Gramsh Municipality will spend around 140 million lek on the reconstruction of the 9-year school "35th Anniversary of the Liberation of Gramsh" and the construction of the gym.
With the winning company now announced, the students of this school have been transferred to another educational institution. The works are planned to last 10 months.
The Municipality of Elbasan will spend around 200 million lekë for the reconstruction of the existing building and the surrounding wall and the construction of the emergency staircase at the “Dhaskal Todri” school. The winning company will have to complete all works by August 2026.
For the reconstruction of the 9-year school and the high school in Bushat, as well as the addition of two floors, the Municipality of Vau i Dejës has made available 120 million lekë. Here too, the winning company will have 12 months to complete the works.
Meanwhile, the Municipality of Tirana has made over 166 million lek available for the purchase of furniture and other objects needed for the teaching process.
Currently, there are a total of 1,363 9-year primary and secondary schools in the country. In 2013, there were 1,741 of these. In just over a decade, the number of educational institutions has shrunk by 378.
According to official data from the Ministry of Education and Sports, this has also led to a narrowing of the ratio between schools and students, despite the fact that the contraction has also included the latter. From 254 students per school in 2013, the ratio has fallen to 183 this year./A2
