Serbia conducts military exercises near the border with Kosovo, Kurti: Open
Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has expressed concern over what he calls an unjustified demonstration of Serbian military forces near areas inhabited by Albanians in the municipality of Bujanovac, near the border with Kosovo.

During the government meeting, Kurti stated that such displays of military force on civilian areas, including homes, schools and health centers, constitute pressure and incite tensions among residents, who, according to him, are facing ethnic and administrative cleansing by the authorities in Serbia. He added that these actions also constitute a direct provocation towards Kosovo.

According to Kurti, the provocations include military maneuvers near the border strip in Karaqeva, conducted by the 63rd Paratroopers Brigade, where H-145M helicopters were used and parachute drops were carried out near the border. He emphasized that this unit also trained Milan Radoićić's group.

"This display becomes even more alarming when we remember that the same unit trained and supported the group of criminal Milan Radoićić who carried out the terrorist attack in Banjska where they killed police sergeant Afrim Bunjaku. These military movements combined with the inflammatory rhetoric of the President of Serbia, Vučić, that Serbia is preparing for a possible attack by a Croatia-Albania-Kosovo alliance and the purchase of Chinese and Russian weapons, confirm that Serbia is using the army as a tool of blackmail to keep the Balkan region in constant tension," Kurti said.

The head of government also called on Albanians in the Presevo Valley not to fall prey to destabilizing policies, while emphasizing that Kosovo institutions remain ready for any scenario.

"Kosovo's institutions remain vigilant and ready to face any threat, but it is time for the international community to punish this destabilizing approach of Serbia that directly threatens regional peace and security," Kurti said.
