A serious incident has been recorded in Pristina, where two parents are suspected of having continuously abused their 5-year-old son.
The child was taken to the Pediatric Clinic and is currently in intensive care, where he underwent a surgical intervention on the level of the feet by the orthopedic and plastic surgery teams. Doctors report that the intervention was carried out according to protocols and his condition during the operation was stable.
According to information, it is learned that the parents have systematically mistreated the minor and are suspected of having even cut off his toes, causing him serious physical injuries.
The authorities detained citizens AK and VP, against whom the court imposed a one-month detention measure. They are being investigated for the criminal offenses of "Breach of family obligations" and "Serious bodily injury".
"The Pediatrics Clinic informs you that the 5-year-old patient, currently hospitalized in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, today underwent the necessary surgical intervention at the level of the feet by the specialist teams of Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery.
At the same time, we emphasize that professional health teams are providing maximum care and necessary treatment in accordance with medical protocols. For this reason, we ask the media to be understanding and avoid pressures for additional information, requests for interviews or other forms of direct communication, as any official information from the Pediatrics Clinic will be forwarded only through the Information Office at SHSKUK," the hospital announced.
Parents AK and VP are suspected of the criminal offenses of Breach of Family Obligations and Serious Bodily Injury.
"The preliminary procedure judge, after hearing the parties to the procedure and after analyzing the case files, found that the request of the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina for the determination of the measure of detention is well-founded, therefore, I approve the request of the PTHP for the determination of the measure of detention against the defendants AK and VP, so that the same has been determined to be detained for a period of 1 (one) month, for each one," the announcement states.
