Spain leads France, one goal decides the first half of the World Cup semi-final
The first half of the France-Spain semi-final ends. The match played in "Arlington Texas" ended with the minimum score 0-1 for the "Red Fury" and the dominance of the European champions.
De la Fuentes' team scored the only goal in the 22nd minute. It was Mikel Ojarzabal who was accurate from the penalty spot.
It was a blunder by Lucas Digne, where after a long ball from Marc Cucurella, the French defender made an unforgivable tackle on Lamin Jamal and the referee had no doubt that it was a penalty. Ojarzabal shot, Mike Menjo understood the arm, but could not avoid the goal.
In the 38th minute, the Iberians "flirted" with a second goal, after a blunder that started at Menjo's feet, but in the end Fabian Ruiz almost failed to find the goal, after the ball was deflected in the final fraction by Dazhot Upamecano.
Spain started the match better, being more active from the first minutes. In the 8th minute, Adrien Rabiot fouled Dani Olmon on the edge of the penalty area and was booked. Spain had a good chance to score from the free kick, but Alex Baena's shot was too weak.
