The leader of the Opportunity Party, Agron Shehaj, stopped this Tuesday in front of Prime Minister Edi Rama's villa in Surrel, questioning the declared value of the property on the head of government's asset form.
Shehaj said he decided to go near Rama's apartment because, according to him, the prime minister and the media close to him have been dealing with the villa he sold in Italy for around 15 million euros, while no one is talking about the property declared by Rama.
According to the leader of the Opportunity Party, the villa in Surrel consists of four buildings and over 1,000 square meters of construction, while the declared value of around 400 thousand euros does not hold true.
" I'm looking at Edi Rama's villa. After he dealt with my villa, I said: 'Hey, this villa of Edi Rama that has declared a value of 400 thousand euros, here is Edi Rama's property declaration', I said let's take a look at it. Now there are 4 buildings, over 1000 m² of construction and it says it cost over 400 thousand euros. The media and Edi Rama's propaganda are not dealing with this villa, which is a villa built with dirty money, with corruption money. But they are dealing with my villa of 15 million euros ", declared Shehaj.
He added that his wealth is declared and that he has nothing to hide, as, according to him, it was created through work over the years.
" I have sold a villa of almost 500 m², in Forte dei Marmi, one of the most expensive areas of Italy. When someone comes and tells the truth, because I don't have to hide it, because it is money that I have earned with work and sacrifices over the years, then you should attack me. If you didn't say that I am lying, this other one looks very bad with a 400 thousand euro villa, 4 buildings over 1000 m². The air conditioning alone will have cost him more than 400 thousand euros. This one says: 'No, I did it all with 400 thousand euros'. Madness, this is a mockery , "he said.
Finally, Shehaj also linked this issue to the protests that have been taking place in Tirana for weeks.
" And then you wonder why people have been coming out to the boulevard for a month and a half and demanding Edi Rama's resignation. Yes, it's normal, because it's come to you. You can't keep lying to them. The end has come for you! You will leave, you have nothing to do! ", concluded Shehaj.
