Italian driver Kimi Antonelli won the Belgian Grand Prix in Formula 1, the tenth round of the season, on Sunday afternoon, recording another important success for Mercedes. Thanks to this victory, the 19-year-old has increased the gap on his closest rival in the overall standings to 45 points.
The race at the Belgian circuit was a closely fought one, with four different drivers taking the lead at different times. However, Antonelli managed to take the lead with 10 laps to go and successfully defended his position against the attacks of Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari. The Monegasque driver was forced to settle for second place.
The podium was completed by Max Verstappen in Red Bull, who drove a solid race and overtook Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari. The Briton finished the race in fourth place, while a five-second penalty received early in the race cost him the chance to fight for a podium place.
Unlucky was George Russell in Mercedes, who was involved in contact with Hamilton at the start and was forced to abandon the race. After this result, Hamilton moves up to second place in the overall standings, while Antonelli celebrates his sixth victory of the season.
Oskar Piastri finished fifth in McLaren, followed by Isak Hadjar in Red Bull and reigning world champion Lando Norris in McLaren, who finished seventh. Gabriel Bortoleto, Arvid Lindblad and Franco Colapinto also finished in the points.
