Ardian Gjini has been elected the new chairman of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), at the AAK Assembly, held today.
Gjini, who is also AAK's candidate for prime minister, presented himself to the delegates with the message that the party is entering a new political phase on the basis built over the years. He added that AAK is not starting its journey from scratch and that this, according to him, gives the party strength for the political challenges that await it.
"Brothers and sisters, I firmly believe that everything we are talking about today is achievable. We are not starting from the ground, but from an extraordinary building that we have built together with you, President. We are starting from the faith we have for Kosovo. Energy, security and development is our slogan, with a Western connotation. But don't forget, the pillars that make us feel good about why we love America and Europe are important for Kosovo and need to be strengthened more," declared Gjini.
Gjin's election comes after Ramush Haradinaj's resignation from the leadership of AAK in February of this year, ending a period of more than two decades at the helm of the party.
In his speech to the delegates at the 10th Electoral Assembly, Haradinaj recalled his political and military journey, emphasizing that he will continue to be part of the political engagement in Kosovo, although no longer as the party leader. He confirmed that he will remain active in political life and gave full support to Ardian Gjini as the successor at the head of AAK.
"Since 2000, at the age of 32, I have served Kosovo and the nation as the leader of the Alliance. I have had the honor of being elected as an MP in every legislature and elected prime minister twice. Today, Chairman Ardian, I and the Alliance believe in you. We believe that you will be our leader, the leader of Kosovo, the leader of our best list ," said Haradinaj.
