Kosovo citizens living abroad begin the process of voting by mail today, as over 105,000 people have registered in advance to participate in the elections.
The Central Election Commission has completed preparations for the distribution of ballots, while the majority of diaspora voters are located in European countries.
CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi announced that around 75,000 packages of election materials have been prepared, which have begun to be distributed as of May 21. Meanwhile, around 30,000 other packages will be transported outside Kosovo in the coming days.
Each package contains the ballot, voting instructions, a secrecy envelope, and a return envelope. According to the CEC, each shipment is also equipped with a tracking code, to enable voters to track the location of their package in real time.
The deadline for postal voting will be open until June 6. Election authorities have urged voters not to delay returning ballots, so that they arrive in time for the counting process in Kosovo.
The diaspora voting process takes place in 22 countries around the world, including Germany, Switzerland, the USA, Italy, France, and the United Kingdom.
