The Shkodra Court has set the security measure of "prison arrest" for 64-year-old Shtjefën Ziçi, accused of murdering his wife, 55-year-old Bardhe Ziçi.
During the court session, the 64-year-old did not give any statement to the jury. On the other hand, the defense attorney, Agim Martini, requested that his client undergo a psychological examination.
The serious incident occurred at noon on July 9 on the eastern ring road of Shkodra. According to preliminary investigations, after an argument at the grocery store they managed near their apartment, the 64-year-old allegedly took the shotgun he owned with a permit and shot his wife twice.
Investigations indicate that the 55-year-old attempted to flee to escape the attack, but failed to survive the injuries she sustained, dying at the scene.
According to the investigation team, the main lead is related to jealousy. It is suspected that the conflict started after the 64-year-old asked his wife for her mobile phone, which led to an argument between them. A few moments later, he entered the apartment, took the gun and allegedly committed the crime.
The couple were parents of two children. The son lives in Canada, while the daughter is an officer in the Vau Dejës military unit. Investigations are ongoing to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
