As the Socialist Party celebrates its 35th anniversary in a major event at "Italia" Square in Tirana, Erion Veliaj's congratulations were not lacking.

The mayor of Tirana, who is in detention, has chosen to convey a short message to the socialists on this symbolic day for the political force that has governed the country for more than a decade.

" Happy 35th birthday to the entire socialist family ," Veliaj wrote in a post on social media.

His message comes on a special day for socialists, who have gathered in the capital to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Party. The event is being held in the presence of party leaders, MPs, members and supporters from across the country.
