SP activity begins, hundreds of socialists in the square to challenge protesters

The Socialist Party's activity for the 35th anniversary of its founding has begun, an event that has been accompanied by political debates for days and is being read as a response to the citizen protests that have entered their 13th day.

Since the early hours of the afternoon, the area of the "Italia" Square and the area around the "Air Albania" stadium were filled with socialists coming from different regions of the country. Footage from the event shows a large turnout, following the mobilization of party structures, MPs and local leaders, who had been asked for days to ensure the highest possible participation in the 35th anniversary celebration.

The event opened with the screening of a short documentary dedicated to Fatos Nano, one of the historical figures of the Socialist Party and former Prime Minister of the country. After the documentary, the Secretary General of the Socialist Party, Blendi Klosi, took the stage to deliver a welcoming speech and talk about the 35-year journey of the socialists.

Afterwards, Klosi gave way to the Prime Minister and Socialist Party leader, Edi Rama, who is currently delivering his speech in front of thousands of attendees.

Unlike other anniversaries, the event is designed around the figure of Rama, who is also the only political speaker scheduled for the program. The Socialists are attending the ceremony on foot, while audiovisual materials reflecting the party's history are shown in the background.

This 35th anniversary comes at an unusual moment for the Socialist Party. Just a few kilometers away, citizens are organizing the next protest against the government, while prominent left-wing figures, including Arta Dade and Ditmir Bushati, have called for reflection and criticized the party's current course.
