The 35 days that ignited the hope of a new Albania!

For the first time in 35 years, citizens are protesting every day on their own initiative. The message is not just for Rama, but for the entire political class.

It's been 35 days. Thirty-five days since the boulevard in front of the Prime Minister's Office has not been empty. Thirty-five days since citizens from Tirana, the districts and the diaspora have taken to the square without party flags, without organized buses and without political orders. With only one common demand: change.

In 35 years of pluralism, Albania has seen major protests, revolts, hunger strikes and mass rallies. But rarely, if ever, has a protest lasted so long on the initiative of the citizens themselves. This is precisely where its strength lies.

What began as a reaction against the project in Zvërnec quickly turned into a revolt against the way the country has been governed. Today, in the square, not only can one hear the cries of "Rama go away", but also "Rama in prison, Berisha in prison". This is perhaps the strongest message of this protest: the anger is no longer directed only at a government, but at a political class that many citizens consider responsible for the state of the country.

During these 35 days, the government tried almost every strategy. At first it ignored the protest. Then it tried to minimize it. Later it started personal attacks on the protesters, accusations, public lynching, labeling and attempts to present it as a manipulated movement. When that didn’t work, clashes with the police, arrests and tensions followed.

However, the 35th day provided a clear answer. The boulevard was more crowded than ever. This shows that the anger has not faded. On the contrary, it is still there.

But the protest is not just a message for Edi Rama.

It is an equally strong signal for the traditional opposition. For years, Sali Berisha has organized numerous protests against socialist governments. However, none of them managed to create a daily movement that would last over a month and mobilize citizens without a classic party organization.

This shows that the problem is not the lack of dissatisfaction. The people are there. They have come out. But some of them do not find themselves in traditional politics. In this sense, the protest is also a criticism of the opposition, which has failed to channel this dissatisfaction and inspire citizens.

In the end, this is perhaps the biggest change this movement has brought.

For the first time in many years, the boulevard is not just challenging a government. It is challenging a way of doing politics. It is challenging the idea that power and opposition are two sides of the same coin. And for this very reason, regardless of how this protest will end, one thing seems to have already happened: these young men and women showed that Albanians can rise up, restoring hope to all of us. / Pamphlet
