Mirela, ignorance in the field of knowledge is not forgiven!
Minister of Education, Mirela Kumbaro /

Tonin Gjuraj did not clash with an individual. He clashed with a system where the academic vote is worth less than the will of the politically appointed board…

Yesterday, the University of Shkodra lost the rector elected by the academic community, and retained the administrator protected by the board. A functional ignoramus who switches from the DP to the SP, thanks to the bargaining for votes he makes in some villages of the northern capital. Mark Molla, convicted of theft, with the help of the municipality and the Minister of Education 'won' the battle with the Rector Tonin Gjuraj.

This fact alone is enough to understand what really happened. We are not dealing with an administrative conflict, an office dispute, or a procedural debate. We are dealing with a clash between knowledge and ignorance, between academic authority and the arrogance of power.

Therefore, the question is no longer directed to the University of Shkodra. The question is directed to the Minister of Education, Mirela Kumbaro. Because after all, boards do not fall from the sky. Boards are created by law, are fed by power and survive thanks to the silence of the ministry.

Mirela, in politics many things can be forgiven. Incompetence can be forgiven. Subservience can be forgiven. Even a serious administrative error can be forgiven. But in the field of knowledge, ignorance is not forgiven. The university is not a party office. It is not an electoral branch. It is not a shelter for militants seeking a salary. The university is the institution where those who will lead the state, the economy and society tomorrow are formed.

When a professor with an academic career, scientific titles and the legitimacy of a university vote leaves, declaring that he no longer has the strength to face a board, the problem is no longer personal. The problem becomes national. Because the message that every lecturer, every researcher and every student receives is brutal: in Albania, knowledge is not gained, but ignorance through political support.

Mirela, Albania has lost thousands of young people to emigration. Universities are emptying year after year. Auditors are remaining half empty. The best teachers are seeking opportunities abroad. Instead of building a system that protects merit, a system that protects clientele is being built. Instead of strengthening university autonomy, political control mechanisms are being strengthened.

And when this happens at the University of Shkodra, one of the most important academic institutions in the country, no one has the right to act as if they don't see it.

It doesn't matter what the administrator's name is. It doesn't matter what the rector's name is. Today it's one, tomorrow it's another. What matters is the principle. Who should have the final say in the university, the academic community or the people who receive the blessing of power?

If the answer is government, then drop the word "university" altogether. Call it the directorate. Call it an agency. Call it an administrative office. But don't call it a university.

Because the university begins where fear ends and where the authority of science reigns. The university dies when academic decisions are replaced by board bargaining. The university dies when professors leave and the ignorant triumph.

Mirela, education is not measured by conferences, slogans, and posts on social networks. Education is measured by the respect that the state shows towards knowledge. And when a rector leaves denouncing that his university has been taken hostage, the ministry's silence is not neutrality. Silence turns into a position.

History will not remember the names of the members of a board. History will remember that in your time, a university lost its rector and the state did not find the strength to protect academic authority. And this is a failure that cannot be hidden by any administrative decision.
